"...And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer."

From Letters to a Young Poet, Rainer Maria Rilke

A Bit of My Story

While I've long been aware that generous exercise helped my mood and focus, I haven't always been an athlete.

After a four-year battle with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, I started training (improbably) for triathlon. Exercise has been great medicine for the challenges I've faced (including psoriasis, anxiety and depression). I didn't know if I'd be able to run, with asymmetrical pelvic bones and related hip pain. But, how would I know unless I gave it a go?

My love for endurance sports developed quickly, and in time I progressed to the USAT National Age-group Championships and then the ITU and Ironman 70.3 World Championships.

While racing isn't for everyone, I believe in the mind-body connection, and that staying strong and active builds energy and confidence, slows ageing, and benefits you in countless ways.

Million-dollar lesson learned: When you're stuck, or not progressing toward what you want, and you're not sure how to change that...let someone who does know help you.

During my time in the corporate world, I found any way I could to help friends and co-workers get more active or achieve particular fitness goals. I only wanted more time to do so!

I still enjoy racing half-ironman triathlons and half marathons, but my ultimate quest is for the greatest balance and joy I can create in life. My own workout routines include swimming, biking, running, strength training, yoga, surfing, walking or hiking, Qi Gong, (very) amateur dancing, and any other modality that may have energizing, calming or healing power. Along the way, I've learned many tricks, and would like to share them!

I believe possibility is infinite when you set your mind...if there's a "can't", you are going to have to prove it to me first.

I live in Carlsbad, CA with my husband, Greg, and two affectionate cats with distinct personalities.
